Fishing is HOT right now. I was out muskie fishing yesterday and moved 4 fish and hooked and landed one 44 inch muskie on a metro lake. I’ve heard of some muskies being caught on the fly out of a few other metro lakes recently as well.
Trout fishing is good as well! Streamers and nymphs have been effective. Fall fish are putting their feed bag on before winter! Trout are wearing their gorgeous fall colors right now.
Here is a report from of a customer of ours who was up on the Brule this past week.
“Just sending a quick fishing report from the Brule River this past weekend. I fished Saturday and Sunday and did quite well. I hooked three steelhead and two very nice lake run brown trout. I hooked all the steelhead on either a hare’s ear nymph or an X-legs pattern. Both brown trout were caught on a simple pink egg pattern. As far as fishing, I had most of my success fishing the seams on deeper runs or working my nymph through the fast, broken water in the riffles. In water like this, presentation, consistently adjusting for depth and having a good dead drift was essential. Lots of fish are in the river and other anglers reported similar success.”
Don’t forget trout season closes up Oct 15th!! Just two weeks left. The state parks in SE MN stay open for trout fishing year round catch and release as well as a few town stretches of river.
